When a person wants to go to college, one of the factors taken into account in this decision is the accreditation and the tariff. However, there is another fact that is little known and also influences this process: the retention rate.
According to the Ministry of Education, the retention rate is the percentage of students enrolled in first year continued to study in the same race the following year and institution.
The ranking by the 60 Chilean MiFuturo.cl ues, located at the University of Los Andes in first place, with a retention rate of 88.8%, followed by Catholic (87.3%) and UC Maule (86.8%).
"Pay attention to this is very important, since the deregulation of the supply of higher education prevents be sure you're going to have a good education," said sociologist and researcher of Education 2020, Manuel Sepúlveda.
Although this figure is revealing, there is no minimum acceptable figure to brand a university good or bad for your retention rate.
